ACCREDITATION
The Educational Program of Athens Academy of East Asian Medicine, in collaboration with our partner school, Shenzhou Open University of TCM, is designed to meet and exceed the educational standards established by the European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association and its member societies in various countries. Our Educational Program goes beyond the recommended subjects and learning hours for a comprehensive training in Acupuncture, as set by the World Health Organization (https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/9789240017962).
The STUDY PROCESS
Language & Communication
To be able to follow along with the classes, knowledge of the English language is a prerequisite. A student should also possess the basic computer skills necessary, to enable one to study at our e-learning platform on-line.
Attendance and Study Load
Our program at Athens Academy of East Asian Medicine combines face-to-face meetings (one full weekend per month or 3-4 consecutive days, depending on the schedule for the year) with 15-18 hours of independent study on our e-learning platform. Students are expected to record their attendance, submit homework assignments, and engage in discussions with other students on the subject matter feedback forums. We value the educational contact between teacher and student, and a minimum of 80% attendance is mandatory for each course. The study program requires a significant self-study load, engagement in study groups, and apprenticeship that is about five times the teacher contact hours. For more information about the program schedule, please contact info@ac-eam.com.
Lecture Days
Our TCM program consists of 20 lecture days per year, which are scheduled in 10 blocks approximately once per month on Saturdays and Sundays, with occasional exceptions where they are scheduled in 5 blocks of 4 consecutive days or 4 blocks of 5 consecutive days.
In addition, there are 23 lecture days of Western Medical Sciences courses, which are scheduled on weekdays at a convenient time and on weekends. All schedules will be posted on our e-learning platform, where you can easily access and keep track of your classes.
STUDY MATERIALS and STUDY BOOKS
Students have to buy a number of books and mandatory readers. Supplementary syllabi, if applicable, may be distributed during the course. Below, the main study books are listed. Most of these books are available in our school library. We offer students access to the library to read the book as they see fit.
